SHILLONG: The breakaway faction of the ANVC has asked the State police to refrain from provoking the outfit.

The ANVC-B is miffed with the fact that two police vehicles were making random checks in the vicinity of its camp, right after the group made a public statement against negligence on the part of the Government.

ANVC-B leader Doang Shira said that the checking is a clear sign of open provocation and intended attempt to disrupt the festive mood of the cadres.

“Is the Government planning to hunt us down by scaring or is it an attempt to disrupt the festive season? The State Government must stop while things are still safe, provoking will further deteriorate the situation in Garo Hills, which will only be the Government’s fault and failure,” the ANVC-B leader said.

According to Shira, if the Government wants to treat the outfit like an adversary, then the group will have to re-evaluate its stand.

“What is the reason behind Police checking just outside our camp at Eden Bari when there is no vehicular movement and the area is peaceful,” the outfit questioned, adding whether the police is provoking ANVC-B cadres or is it an instruction by the State Government to implicate cadres just before Christmas.

“If the Government and the Police are not keen in ensuring peace this festive season and if they make any attempt to come near our camp and make our cadres feel targeted, we will not hesitate to do what we are trained for,” he warned even as he added that the group will not be responsible if any untoward incident takes place.
