Guwahati: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday warned that officials would be held responsible for failing to implement schemes and programmes under Plan head. Gogoi reviewed the implementation of schemes and programmes under Plan head at a meeting with heads of all departments at Secretariat conference hall here.
Gogoi exhorted upon the officials to ensure implementation of schemes and programmes within the stipulated timeframe.
“No lame excuses will be heard for non implementation of any scheme within the stipulated timeframe. Officers will be held solely responsible for failing to execute scheme,” he added.
Gogoi said any problems faced by the departments in executing any scheme should be sorted out at the chief secretary level.
The chief minister also asked adviser to chief minister, PP Varma to hold periodic meetings with the heads of concerned departments to ensure hassle-free implementation of flagship programmes of Government of India and Chief Minister’s Special Programmes.
The departments whose schemes were reviewed included PWD (Roads), PWD (Buildings & Highways), Panchayat & Rural Development, Social Welfare, PHED, Urban Development, Village & Small Industries, Large & Medium Industries, Handloom & Textiles, Environment & Forest, Information Technology, Power, Guwahati Development Department, WPT & BC and others. chief minister’s Special Package, funds allocated and sanctioned to six Tribal Autonomous Councils, BTC, 18 Development Councils, SCSP and TSP were also reviewed.
The chief minister said he would have a review meeting with the rest of the departments to be convened soon.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Minister for Planning & Development, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Additional Chief Secretary, V K Pipersenia, Adviser to CM, Flagship Programmes and CM’s Special Programmes, PP Varma.
