Agartala: The crucial meeting of CPI-M politburo has begun on Friday morning at Agartala to review the latest political situation following election results of five state assembly elections ahead of 2014 Loksabha poll.
Except for Sitaram Yeachuri, all other 11 members of politburo have joined the meeting at state CPI-M headquarters where party chief Prakash Karat, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and West Bengal party secretary Biman Basu attended, CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar said.
He however, pointed out that politburo meeting would be followed by the central committee meeting at Bhagat Singh Youth hostel and the meeting would continue till December 15 next.
Meanwhile, talking to media in the sideline of the politburo meeting West Bengal party chief Biman Basu stated that the meeting would emphasis on more concentrated effort from the part of the leaders to common public causes.
“In the central committee meeting we shall discuss the achievement and failure of the decisions taken in 20th party congress and also to review our political line of action in changing current political situation,” Basu said.
Appreciating the success of AAP in Delhi assembly election, Basu said that Arvind Kejriwal team could able to hit upon the common causes of suffering of the major section of the society besides, continuous fight against corruption, which paid him dividend.
“The CPI-M is also agitating against the anti-people move of the UPA government over the years but somehow we could not reach out to the expected level of the voters in just concluded assembly poll in five states where CPI-M had put 51 candidates,” Basu admitted.
The meeting would have a detail discussion on the strategy of CPI-M in next Loksabha poll and also to review the present political situation as well as introspection from the lesson learnt in recent elections.
Tripura the last bastion of CPI-M for the first time holding the politburo and central committee meeting of the party in 35 years of rule. (UNI)
