- One Handyman of a truck died on the spot while the driver sustained serious injuries when the truck (AS-01BC-1337) driven by Denison Phalangki fell into a gorge at Kuliang, East Jaintia Hills on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Kor Phawa (25). The injured driver has been admitted at Umkiang PHC.
In another incident, one truck AS-01AB-9314) fatally knocked down a minor girl Crealidia D. Sangma (10) at Dopagrang village, South Garo Hills on December 14. The driver and the handyman fled the scene soon after. - A Maruti 800 local taxi heading towards Smit on Sunday was involved in a head on collision with a truck on reaching Maw-u-Sam under Mawkynrew Block, East Khasi Hills. Two passengers, Betsilin Kharkongor (35) and Airilin Lyngdoh Nongbri (20), travelling in the local taxi sustained injuries during the collision.
- A pedestrian was hit by a moving vehicle while walking on the side of the road at Demsieniong, Shillong on Sunday evening. Ronjit Roy (44) was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital following the incident.
- A Maruti 800 traveling towards Shillong collided head on with a Maruti Alto at Mankhre under Khliehrait Block, East Jaintia Hills on Sunday morning. David Hmar (43) and Puitei Chhakchhuak (24) travelling in the Maruti 800 sustained injuries and have been shifted to Khliehrait CHC.
- In a collision between a motorbike and a car at Pynthorbah, Shillong on Saturday night, a motorist sustained injuries after falling off from the two-wheeler. The motorist Biswajit Deb (23) was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
- A motorist and a pillion rider sustained injuries when the scooter they were travelling in hit a wall on the side of the road after it skidded at Mawlai Iewrynghep, Shillong on Saturday. The injured Michael Shangpliang (25) and Balajied Khonglam (22) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
NB: In all the above cases the 108 ambulance service transported the injured to the nearest helath centres, hospitals.
