SHILLONG: The spat between the ANVC-B and its parent group has come to the fore once again with the former accusing the ANVC of setting up an ambush for the leaders of the breakaway faction on the last day of the AHAIA Festival in Tura. In a statement issued here on Monday, ANVC-B joint secretary, Rangdo R Marak stated that the ambush was set at Chandmary ATM when the leaders went to make some transfers.
“Two vehicles belonging to ANVC cadres were on silent pursuit (of ANVC-B leaders) and halted near the ATM,” the statement said adding that the ANVC is using newly recruited cadres for such activities.
According to Marak, the ANVC-B cadres detected their movement and hastily escorted the leaders to the camp. “The consequences of such moves could be fatal and the ANVC must stop targeting our leaders else peace will fail to make an impact in Garo Hills,” he said.
“Stop hunting us or we will be forced to retaliate,” the statement added.
Arrest
An ANVC-B militant was arrested on Monday by the police in South Garo Hills district, bordering Bangladesh, according to UNI.
The cadre identified as Tengseng T Sangma, was arrested from Gasuapara.
Police also seized extortion notes from his possession.
