Gogoi wants BTAD rehabilitation expedited

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday directed the ministers concerned to expedite the rehabilitation of ethnic violence affected persons in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).
The chief minister in a meeting with Bodoland Territorial Council Chief Hagrama Mohilary, Group of Ministers and senior officials here discussed several issues related to the relief and rehabilitation of persons affected in ethnic violence last year.
Gogoi also directed officials of Revenue Department to provide ration for another two-and-a-half-months to the affected families following a plea from the BTC Chief.
Assam Minister for Panchayat Rural Development, Rakibul Hussain said his department has allocated 12,500 houses at Rs 75,000 per unit under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) to the violence-hit BPL families with identity cards.
The process for allotting IAY houses to non-BPL families without identity cards would begin once the state government receives a detailed proposal from the BTC which would be forwarded to the Planning Commission for seeking approval.
Later, a separate meeting was also held by Gogoi with BTC Chief and senior officials of Home and Political Department to discuss law and order situation in BTAD areas. (PTI)
