SHILLONG: Setting a precedence the Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (MSCDRC) in an order ruled that the “no exchange/ refund” policy of Blackberry (garments) retail store, Shillong is an unfair trade practise.
The order came after one Debbrata Das of Guwahati moved the forum when the showroom refused to exchange a sweater purchased by him.
The forum also directed the retail branch to exchange the sweater of the customer within 30 days.
It may be mentioned that the MSCDRC popularly known as Consumer Court has disposed of as many as 88 cases in the last six months since Justice (Retd) PK Musahary took charge as the president.
