Agribusiness Camp
SHILLONG: Highlighting the crucial role of Entrepreneurship as a catalyst for Agricultural and Economic Development, the Agribusiness Camp concluded successfully on Saturday.
Jointly organized by Zonal Technology Management-Business Planning and Development Unit (ZTM-BPD) of NIRJAFT, Kolkata and ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, the single day event aimed to create Agribusiness awareness, build competencies on Agribusiness incubation among Entrepreneurs, and establish partnership among Agribusiness sectors in North Eastern India.
Addressing the inaugural session, Dr S V Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region spoke on the need for vibrant agricultural growth in North Eastern India even as he added it was possible through product diversification, with focus on better Technologies, sound Entrepreneurship, Infrastructural Development and Market understanding.
In his remark, Dr A N Roy of Zonal Technology Management- Business Planning and Development unit said that this event has opened up new avenues of opportunities for Commercializing Technologies of ICAR and supporting Entrepreneurs. He also explained the role of Agri Business Incubator like ZTM-BPD in Technology Commercialization
The participants were informed about Technologies, Commercialization, Marketing and Funding from the presentations from NIRJAFT, Kolkata, NABARD Shillong, NIC Meghalaya, SAFC, , ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region and Regional stations of ICAR RC NEHR.
There was also an exhibition to showcase the technologies developed by different ICAR Institutes in this region and products made by their beneficiary farmers,adding the beneficiary farmers also made a good earning by selling their products.
It may be mentioned that the event was attended by more than 130 participants including 32 Entrepreneurs from North Eastern States, 8 NGOs, representatives from World Vision, NERAMAC, SFAC Meghalaya, Rural Resource Training Centre, Agri based Companies, Policy makers, State Bank of India and NABARD.
