Author Manreet Sodhi Someshwar, whose The Hunt for Kohinoor, the second book on Mehrunisa trilogy, has hit the stalls, and filmmaker Anubhav Sinha feel that if the literary work is adapted for the big screen, actress Priyanka Chopra would be apt to play the sleuth.
“No one fits the bill better than Priyanka Chopra with her strong feminine presence. With a combination of vulnerability and head-strong nature, Priyanka would portray Mehrunisa perfectly,” Sinha said said in a statement. He launched the book recently, and is currently busy with the production of his women-centric drama Gulaab Gang, which stars Madhuri Dixit in the lead role.
The book follows a 96-hour journey of Mehrunisa, an Indian female Sherlock Holmes. It is a hunt through the world’s most dangerous terrain in order to retrieve the precious diamond – Kohinoor.
Someshwar would love to turn her books into the film.
“Looking at the current set of Bollywood actors, Priyanka comes closest to my perception of Mehrunisa, and I would love to make this series of books into a movie one day,” said the author, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Her first book in the Mehrunisa series was titled The Taj Conspiracy. (IANS)
