Publicist Julian Myers, who has worked with many legendary stars including Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland, has died at the age of 95.
The veteran entertainment representative was known for his sense of humour, smart outfits and “old-school” publicity stunts, reported Digital Spy.
He started work as a publicist at Fox in 1948, working with several stars of Hollywood such as Cary Grant, John Wayne and Monroe. In 1961, he opened his own publicist firm, and served as executive VP at Hanson & Schwam PR in the 1980s.
Myers continued working well after retirement age, and kept in touch with many former colleagues and journalists. He also enjoyed running marathons, competing at the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah until last year.
For over 35 years, he taught entertainment publicity at UCLA, and gave lectures for several years at Loyola Marymount. Among his longlist of clients were Betty Grable, Deborah Kerr, Jayne Mansfield, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Shelley Winters, Patricia Neal, Bette Davis, Ava Gardner, Shirley Temple, Katharine Hepburn, Jane Russell, Shirley MacLaine and Joan Collins. His death comes two months after that of his wife Patsy Nanna Myers, who died on October 12 from a stroke at the age of 89. (IANS)
