SHILLONG: Though the UDP, KHNAM and NPP have decided to come together to take on Congress from Meghalaya in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bhartya Janata Party has left the ball to BJP Central party’s court whether the party should field a candidate for two seats in the State or the party should collectively fight Congress with other regional parties of the State.
BJP General Secretary Dipayan Chakraborty  on Friday said that the party high command has the sole authority to take a decision whether party will field candidates for two seats or not.
He said that the party central leadership will take a decision after visiting and assessing the situation in the State.
According to Chakra-borty , the party will start the process of Contesting Lok Sabha elections from January next year
He stated that the NPP has already given its letter of support to join the NDA after the elections are over.
Undeterred by the lost in last Assembly elections, the BJP Meghalaya unit has completed the process of organizing the party in Khasi and Jaintia Hills and the strengthening of the party in Ri Bhoi district will be completed in the first week of January.
