One robber arrested with 322 kg copper wire in Pokharan
Jaisalmer: One person was arrested and copper wire worth Rs 2 lakh which he had stolen earlier was seized from him at Lathi village here, police said. Police seized around 322 kg copper wire from the possession of the accused Yakub Khan on Saturday from a room in Lathi village near Pokhran here. The accused was arrested while his accomplice Janu Khan escaped as Jaisalmer police raided the place, they said. (PTI)
Hotelier shot dead
Lakhisarai (Bihar): A hotel owner was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Lohia Chowk area in Lakhisarai district, police said on Sunday. The assailants fatally shot from close range at Amit Kumar alias Kailu Singh (27) after taking him out to discuss certain matters late last night, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Subodh Kumar Viswas said. One person has been arrested in this connection. (PTI)
Three family members found dead in Maharajganj
Lucknow: Three members of a family were today found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house in Purandarpur area of Maharajganj. Ram Samujh (60), his son Lohar (27), and daughter-in-law Sunita Devi (24), were killed using a sharp edged weapon allegedly by some unidentified persons, police here said. The bodies were found in their house in Madhukarpur Mahadeva village by neighbours, who informed the police. A probe is on in the matter, police said, adding that no arrests have been made in this connection so far. (PTI)
UPPCS officers association seek CM intervention
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services (UPPCS) has sought intervention of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav against Centre’s move of making written examination mandatory for their promotion to IAS cadre. At an emergent meeting of the association yesterday, it was decided to meet the Chief Minister and seek his intervention on the issue. The officers were of the view that the fresh examination for promotion to IAS would raise a question mark on state civil service examination through which they are selected. “The move will also create hindrance in administrative works as the officers will go on long leave for preparation for promotion to IAS cadre,” an officer said. The Ministry of Personnel recently changed the rules for promotion from state services. (PTI)
