Three of family killed in fire

Guwahati: Three members of a family, including a minor girl, were burnt to dead in their sleep when their house caught fire last night at Bhaulaguri area of western Assam’s Bongaigaon district.
Local reports said that the house of the ill-fated family, along with six other houses, caught fire on Saturday night when the people were sleeping.
While others managed to escape, the three-member family was charred to death. The father-daughter duo, Bhola Banik and Rashmi, died on the spot, while the wife, Sima, succumbed at a hospital. The cause of the fire is not known yet. (UNI)

Fire razes school in Nagaland

Kohima:  The Government Middle School (GMS), Bamunpukhuri-B village under Dimapur district, was devastated by a big fire on the night of Christmas, wherein properties worth over 13 Lakhs were reduced to ashes.
According to a press release issued by the Village Council Chairman Lemsen Hojai, and Secretary Thangmanan Jigdung on Sunday said that the village authority had informed the fire service about the incident, but lamented that the fire service vehicle could not locate the school and returned back.
Condemning the incident, the Village Council has appealed the law enforcing agencies to arrest and book those individuals or parties at the earliest involved in the devastation of an educational institution. (UNI)
