SHILLONG:  In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the state government has transferred Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tableland Lyngwa to the State Institute Rural Development (SIRD) as director.
Informing this here on Thursday, Official sources said that the present SIRD director E Kharmalki would take over as the new SMB CEO.
However, no decision was taken on the Director of the Urban Affairs department and the Secretary of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the posts Lyngwa was holding besides being the CEO of SMB.
Following the New Shillong Township fiasco, there was a demand from several quarters for removal of Lyngwa as the secretary, MUDA.
