Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP on Sunday demanded the state government to constitute a high level inquiry committee headed by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to investigate into the incident of gun battle between security forces and NCSN-IM at Holaam village in Tirap district which claimed four lives on Thursday last.
“The present government has been unconcerned about the deteriorated law and order situation of Tirap district,” party’s National Council Member and Spokesperson Wangman Lowangcha alleged in a statement.
He demanded immediate visit of the chief minister to Holaam village to verify and assess the ground reality.
He also demanded the state government to enhance the compensation amount announced for the deceased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each and for the seriously injured person from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
The party further urged the government to provide a job to the woman as lone bread winner of the family was killed in the incident.
Two members of a family including two NSCN (IM) rebels were killed and another sustained bullet injury in the cross-fire between the outfit and security forces.
The party also blamed the unrest in Tirap as the result of protracted peace talk between NSCN (IM) and the Centre.
Criticizing the state government for maintaining silence over deteriorated law and order situation in the trouble-torn district, the party demanded both state and central governments to expedite peace talks with the NSCN (IM) to resolve the long and outstanding issues at earliest to bring normalcy.
