Coal mine manager killed

NONGSTOIN: A manager of a coal mine, Mohammad Rahul Islam (23) died on the spot while a helper of a coal laden truck sustained  injuries when the vehicle (AS 01BC- 8143) on its way to Athiabari, West Khasi Hills fell into a deep gorge at Nongdiengkain on late Monday night.
While Islam died on the spot, the injured helper was admitted to Aradonga PHC.
Police said that the coal laden truck was coming from Shallang and was suppose to unload the coal in Assam.
The driver of the truck, meanwhile, fled from the scene soon after the incident. The Shallang Police is investigating into the matter.
