Justice Sen sworn in as HC Judge

SHILLONG: Former Additional Judge Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen was sworn in as Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya here on Tuesday.
Senior lawyers, Government officials and family members of Justice Sen were present during the swearing in ceremony. Chief Justice PC Pant administered the oath of office to Justice Sen.
Belonging to the family of lawyers, Justice SR Sen was born here on March 9, 1957. He did his schooling and college in Shillong and obtained his LLB degree from the Shillong Law College under NEHU.
He started his service career as a school teacher after obtaining the BA degree. Justice Sen joined the Bar on March 28, 1989.
He practised in both civil and criminal matters and was the Assistant Public Prosecutor and Additional Government Pleader of Meghalaya since 1997 till July 7, 2000.
He passed the Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service Examination in 2000 and joined as Additional District & Sessions Judge on July 10, 2000. He then became the District & Sessions Judge in January 2002 with special power to try cases under NDPS, PC Act, WAQF Tribunal and Land Acquisition.
He became the Selection Grade District and Sessions Judge in 2005 and was awarded ‘super time scale’ in April, 2011. He also worked as Registrar (Admin.) of the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati from December 1, 2010 to February 6, 2012. He was sworn in as the Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court  on February 6, 2012. He then took oath as the Additional Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya on March 23, 2013.
He is the eldest son of (L) Suresh Chandra Sen and (L) Shepali Sen.
