JOWAI: Nominated MDC, Phillip Tangliang has said that he did not lodge any police complaint in relation to the assault of Samasi Rangbah Shnong, Jelwis Paslein at a coal quarry in Briwar, East Jaintia Hills on Monday last.
“Someone has forged my signature to lodge the complaint,” Tangliang claimed.
According to the FIR lodged with Saipung Police, Tangliang alleged that on January 6 at around 8.00 am, Jamris Rymbai, Begin Paslein, Nangpoi Paslein, Heimon Manner, Chem Syrti, Namon Bamon, and Nus Dkhar along with 200 others armed with pistols, guns, iron rods etc. went to the coal quarry of the complainant near Briwar and assaulted Jewis Paslein along with the labourers.
The victims sustained injuries and Paslein was subsequently rushed to Woodland Hospital, Shillong on the same day.
Sources claimed that recently the Dorbar Shnong of Samasi decided to field Begin Paslein as its candidate for the upcoming district council polls but the Rangbah Shnong Jelwis Paslein decided to support the nominated MDC, Phillip Tangliang and the same could be the reason for the attack.
Meanwhile, police sources claimed that Tangliang has always been in the habit of lodging complaints with false signatures.
“We don’t understand why he is denying that he never lodged a police complaint,” a senior Police officer from East Jaintia Hills District said.
