SHILLONG: The main opposition UDP has questioned the decision of the Congress-led MUA-II Government to extend the tenure of Chief Secretary WMS Pariat by another six months.
“This is an unhealthy trend that should be discouraged,” UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said on Tuesday.
Asserting that ‘no one is indispensable’, Lyngdoh said that in this case a particular individual has been made to appear as indispensable for reasons best known to the Government.
Earlier, Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma had justified the government’s decision to extend pariat’s tenure saying it will help provide good governance.
