Teilinia joins HSPDP

SHILLONG: Following on the decision of Nongshken MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri (Independent) who recently joined the HSPDP, Mylliem MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew (Independent) has also decided to contest from the HSPDP in the upcoming district council elections scheduled to be held in the last week of February.
When contacted, Thangkhiew on Wednesday confirmed that she would contest the polls from the HSPDP.
Asked for reasons which led her to choose the HSPDP, she said it is the principles of the party which attracted her.
“Many of my supporters also wanted me to join the party (HSPDP),” Thangkhiew said, while also informing that she is likely to be formally inducted into the party within this week.
She also informed that she has withdrawn her support to the Congress-led Khasi Hills United Democratic Alliance (KHUDA) in the KHADC.
“I have submitted a letter to KHADC CEM Pynshngain N Syiem on Monday expressing withdrawal of my support to the alliance,” the Independent MDC said.
