SHILLONG: Thma U Rangli (TUR) has decided to launch a ‘Red Beacon Campaign’ to protest against the decision of the State Government to defy the apex court ruling to limit the use of red beacon lights.

“It is shocking that Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has chosen to disregard the apex court to limit the use of red beacons in Government vehicles,” TUR member Angela Rangad said here on Thursday.

He said that this clearly reflects the arrogance of the Chief Minister and it is also a clear case of abuse of power by people at the top.

While urging the citizens of the State to be actively involved in this campaign, Rangad suggested that people can lodge their complaint either to the police or district authorities if they came across any official using the red beacon light while picking up their children from school and also while fetching vegetables from the market.

“People can also take photograph and take the help of the media to publish such photograph,” TUR member said.

She also said that people can also call them if they come across any such cases.
