Top NLFT leader surrenders in Tripura

Agartala: NLFT’s self-styled army chief Pasaram Tripura alias Thomas has surrendered before Tripura DGP C. Balasubramanian giving a serious jolt to the outfit.
Pasaram, who joined the NLFT in the year 1994 was holding the rank of self styled Chief of the Army Staff of the outfit.
During preliminary investigation, Pasaram admitted he had underwent several trainings in Pakistan and was the principal coordinator between the NLFT and several other NE insurgent groups for clandestine violent activities of NLFT extremists in Tripura.
The surrender rebel, a resident of Jatindra Roaja Para in Dhalai district leader was overseeing procurement and purchasing of fire arms illegally from across the border.
Pasaram, who was one of the principal policy makers of the outfit, carries a cash reward of Rs. 1 Lakh and a red corner notice was also issued against him by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Recently, an acrimonious atmosphere is brewing within NLFT leadership on various issues like misappropriation of fund, religious faith and various other issues that resulted in frustration and compelled him to return to the main stream of life, according to the police.
Pararam’s surrender is seen as strategic victory of the law enforcement agencies after arrest of president of banned outfit- All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) Ranjit Debbarma last year.
However, Biswamohan Debbarma, self-styled president of the powerful outfit NLFT- Biswamohan Debbarma is still remains elusive for the law enforcement agencies.  “Today or tomorrow, we will be haunt down Ranjit to bring him to the justice”, said a top police officer here on Saturday.
