Madhya Pradesh receives ‘State of the Year’ award
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan received the ‘State of the Year’ Award here. The award instituted by CNBC-TV 18, was given on Monday for achieving the “fastest growth” among all the states in the country. On the occasion, Chouhan said that it was a big challenge to develop Madhya Pradesh as the most developed state in the country due to its earlier BIMARU status. “We accepted this challenge and made efforts day in and day out to develop the state in every sector,” he said. The Chief Minister said people were also involved in the development and added that meetings of various sections of the society were held and policies and schemes were framed as per people’s aspirations. CAT 2013 results declared
New Delhi: The Common Admission Test (CAT) results were declared Tuesday, an official here said. “The CAT results will be available for access until Dec 31, 2014 on the CAT website and the candidates are advised to retain a printed copy of their score card,” said CAT convenor Rohit Kapoor. CAT 2013 was conducted in 76 test centres across 40 cities over a 20-day testing window from Oct 16 to Nov 11, 2013. Candidates take the CAT examination for entering into 13 Indian Institute of Management’s and several other management institutes. (IANS)

Naxal killed in Jharkhand
Ranchi:  A suspected Naxalite has been killed and another apprehended by the CRPF in Khunti district of Jharkhand early on Tuesday. Sources said security forces engaged Maoists in the forests of Lebed village during a search operation and in the ensuing firing, a Naxal leader identified as Ramesh Pahan was killed. The body has been recovered, a security official said. Another suspected Maoist, Lal Mohan Pahan, has been apprehended from the spot along with two .12 bore rifles by the security forces, which also included state police. The location where the encounter took place had a Naxal hideout which was destroyed during the encounter by the security forces, the sources said. Two IEDs were also recovered by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops from Merwahi village of Sukma during a search operation. (PTI)

Over 1 kg gold seized from three air passengers
Hyderabad: Over one kg of gold was today seized and three passengers were detained by the customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad near here. On suspicion, the Air Intelligence Wing of Customs intercepted a male passenger, who landed from Bangkok, and during checking found 333 grams of gold bar which was concealed in a secret pouch in his trousers, a customs official said. The officials also seized 231 gms and 468 gms of crude gold from an elderly man and his daughter-in-law respectively, who came by a flight from Dubai. They have been charged for non-declaration of the yellow metal, he said. While the passenger from Bangkok “confessed” of trying to smuggle the gold, the duo from Dubai are contesting against it, the official said, adding that a penalty will be imposed on the three passengers, who were let off.
