Shillong: Every time there is a holiday the out- patient department of NEIGRIHMS remains closed.
Since the holiday list of the Institution is not posted anywhere in the campus or inside the hospital, patients coming from long distances are taken by surprise after they reach NEIGRIHMS.
On Tuesday a long line of patients waited in vain for doctors to report only to be told that it was a holiday on account of Id-u Milab.
“We have come from a long distance spending our time and money but on reaching here we find that the out-patient department is closed. Since illness does not go by time or rhythm, how can doctors take a holiday without replacement,” an elderly patient questioned.
This is not the first time that NEIGRIHMS has shut its OPD. Every public holiday also remains a holiday for this Institute which should be offering hope and care to the people of this region, another patient said.
