Extortionist nabbed

Acting on a tip off police arrested one Bangladeshi national Anggan Rechil (19) from Baghmara, South Garo Hills on January 15. Police also seized two demand notes of Rs.10 lakh each from his possession. The demand notes were addressed to a coal exporter and a businessman.

Abduction bid

On January 16 at about 11.30 am, Chanki Myrchiang and Franky Dkhar along with their accomplices, armed with daggers and iron rods, attempted to abduct Fernando Shylla from Ladthalaboh near Civil Hospital, Jowai, in a Maruti car (AS-01G-6644). Police have arrested all the accused persons.

Missing cases

Evashisha Syiemlieh (18) and Risuklang Suting (14) are reported missing from their residences at Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong, since January 15.
