NCP may contest in one M'laya LS seat

Nagpur: NCP will field candidates on at least 22 seats in Maharashtra and around 20 seats from outside the state including one in Meghalaya in upcoming Lok Sabha elections, senior party leader and Union Heavy Industries Minister Praful Patel said here on Saturday.

“NCP will field one or two nominees each from Gujarat, Goa, Bihar, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshdweep and Andman,” he said. (PTI)

Our Reporter adds: Meanwhile, the State BJP is undecided on whether to go it alone or agree to any pre-poll alliance in the District Council and Lok Sabha polls.

The State BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said on Saturday that the matter related to contesting the district council and Lok Sabha polls would be decided by the Central Election Committee of the party.

With the NPP’s support to NDA, there are indications that BJP may not put up any candidate in Tura Lok Sabha seat. The regional parties are also expecting that BJP might extend support to their common candidate to be fielded for Shillong seat.

“Whatever way, we want to see that the Congress is ousted from power”, Chakraborty said.

On the district council polls, Chakraborty said that if there are potential candidates, the party will be open to contest those seats.
