SHILLONG: The State NCP president Sanbor Shullai has said that his party is yet to decide on fielding candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Meghalaya and at same time he has announced his candidature for the KHADC election.
“The final decision on fielding candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election would be taken by the party’s central leadership,” Shullai said on Monday while reacting to an agency report which said the party would contest in one of two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya.
“There is no truth in the report. I am scheduled to leave for Delhi on Wednesday to discuss this issue. So far, we do not have any agreement with Congress despite supporting Dr Mukul Sangma-led MUA Government,” Shullai said.
During his visit to Delhi, Shullai is scheduled to meet NCP’s national president Sharad Pawar and other central leaders to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Moreover, he informed that he is going to Delhi to get the clearance of the first list of candidates for the upcoming district council elections.
Meghalaya NCP president said that his name is also included in the first list of eight candidates.
“I have decided to contest following pressure from my supporters and well wishers,” he said.
