Petition

The Hynniewtrep Youth Movement on Wednesday submitted a petition to the Chief Minister asking him to keep check on several schools and colleges of the state who charge exorbitant fees from the poor students of the state.

Programme

The sent off programme for Damang Kynsai Khongwir who will attend the 6th international scout gathering at Sharjrah will be held on January 24 at 12 noon at the office of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guide, Shillong

Training

The Seng Bhalang Lumsawdong Umtong organised a two-day training on rural sanitation sponsored by the planning department at LP School, Umtong on January 17-18. Around fifty persons participated in the programme and people were informed about the sanitation.

Scholarship

A national scholarship scheme called Brilliance has been announced that grants scholarships between 10-100% for aspirants at both under graduate and post graduate levels by leading global education strategy firm, Skill Tree Knowledge Consortium. The programme seeks to bring various scholarship opportunities available in over 30 institutes across India under one roof, granting scholarships based on parameters like previous academic record, entrance examination and extracurricular activities undertaken. A host of interactive sessions on scholarship & career shall be hosted by Skill Tree at multiple locations in the northeast starting from February.

Road race

As part of the celebration of National Voter’s Day, the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Khasi Hills together with the Office of the District Sports Officer, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin will conduct the Open 10.5 Kms Road Race (Quarter Marathon) for both Men & Women, Boys & Girls within West Khasi Hills District comprising of entries only from 32-Nongstoin, 33-Rambrai Jyrngam & 34-Mawshynrut Constituencies as part of the National Voters Day Celebration on on January 25, 2014 from 7 am. Cash prizes, trophies special prizes will be awarded.

Festival

To attract the people of the District the District Art & Cultrure Society, West Khasi Hills will organise a one day Arts & Culture Festival on January 25.
