Sayeedullah Nongrum is AICC’s minority dept co-coordinator for NE

NEW DELHI: Former Meghalaya cabinet minister, Sayeedullah Nongrum has been appointed as co-coordinator of the All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) minority department for the entire Northeastern region.

“As the new co-coordinator, Nongrum will have to remain in touch with the party MPs and MLAs of the NE states to discuss various issues related to the minorities,” Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed, chairman of the AICC’s minority department said in a letter to the former legislator.

Ashma Begam from Assam has been appointed as the joint co-coordinator and will assist Nongrum.

All the PCC presidents have been intimated about the appointments and have been requested to mobilize the minority department with help of the co-coordinator in their respective states.

Incidentally, Nongrum was reappointed as the political secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma and was looking after the implementation of the Food Security Bill.
