SHILLONG: Delay in the announcement of the result for admission into Class KG in Pine Mount School is resulting in unwanted agony for the parents.
The interview of the parents and the prospective students was conducted in the second week of November last and the admission result was scheduled to be declared by mid-December last year. However, the school authorities rescheduled the date and informed the parents that the list would be declared by January 15. Anxious parents rushed to the School on the said date only to learn that announcement of the result would be further delayed.
Parents, who have been visiting the School office on a daily basis, have alleged that the office staff come up with new excuses each time which explaining the delay.
Some parents complained that post the winter vacation, the fresh academic session would commence by mid-February across the city schools and the delay by the Pine Mount school authorities in announcing the result is resulting in uncertainty over the future of their children/ ward.
Official sources on Thursday informed The Shillong Times that in the interim period, at least three principals have taken over charge and subsequently left. Details of the same, however, could not be ascertained.
“The frequent change of the principals is one of the reasons for the delay in the announcement of the result,” the official sources said.
Interestingly, inside sources have revealed that the merit list has been changed several times to accommodate the list of students forwarded by politicians and bureaucrats.
“Every time the result was finalized for declaration, it was recalled to make additional changes to accommodate the list of candidates forwarded by politicians and top bureaucrats of the State,” the inside sources revealed, while adding, “This is the first time that there has been such a long delay in the announcement of the result.”
It has now been learnt that the final list would be released by the first week of February, though the exact date could not be ascertained.
