Major boost to NPP before LS polls

SHILLONG: In a major boost to the NPP in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, Roger Binny A Sangma along with a large number of his supporters formally joined the National People’s Party (NPP) in a meeting held at Asanang, West Garo Hills on Thursday.

He joined the party in the presence of National President, P A Sangma, Thomas A Sangma former Rajya Sabha MP, James K Sangma MLA, Semford B Sangma National Observer NPP and other Party leaders.

Roger Binny A Sangma who is an MBA and former President of the Delhi A’chik Youth Association (DAYA) had contested the 2013 Legislative Assembly elections from Tura North constituency and stood second securing over 4000 votes.

Speaking at the meeting, Roger Binny Sangma stated that the reason for joining the NPP was that he believed in the leadership of P A Sangma even as he stated that it was due to the failure of the current leadership in Meghalaya that there was rampant corruption and deterioration of law and order in the State.

While welcoming Roger Binny A Sangma to the party, PA Sangma stated that he was very happy that young, educated and dynamic people like Roger Binny Sangma were coming forward and playing an active role in Politics.

Roger Binny A Sangma was also appointed the General Secretary in-charge of Youth Affairs for West Garo Hills District at the meeting.

Other prominent leaders who also joined the NPP were Wilnan A Sangma and Lekin Ch. Marak.
