OWAI: Former JSU president and also former vice president of the Meghalaya Student Federation, Callingson Laloo who hailed from Tamu village has decided to contest the election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council to be held on February 24.

Speaking to media persons here, Laloo informed that he decided to contest the District Council election because the area (his constituency) was neglected by various representatives.

“I have decided to contest as an Independent candidate”, he informed. “Though I am differently abled, I would like to request the people of Barato Constituency to support me, so that I could serve them better than any of their representative”, he added

Khliehriat East decided to field Violet Lyngdoh- The Dorbar Shnong of Khliehriat East has decided to field Violet Lyngdoh as the candidate in the election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. Lyngdoh was a school teacher who left the job recently.

Meanwhile, on Saturday a meeting attended by prominent resident of Khliehriat-Rymbai Constituency has directed Lyngdoh to contest the JHADC election from UDP ticket.

She (Lyngdoh) will be in a tough battle with the sitting MDC of NOngkhlieh and former Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council CEM, Hambertus Nongtdu.

The sitting UDP MDC from Khliehriat, Welcome Dkhar has informed his decision of not taking part inthe forth-coming election.
