HILLONG: The process for holding elections to the KHADC and JHADC will begin with the filing of nomination papers on Wednesday. Many candidates are expected to file their nominations on the first day even as the last date for completing the formalities is February 10.

The elections to the KHADC and JHADC are scheduled for February 24 and the results will be announced on February 27.

While the ruling Congress has cleared the names of 29 candidates each for the KHADC and JHADC respectively, the largest regional party UDP has cleared the names of candidates for the KHADC polls only.

Other political parties in fray for the elections are HSPDP, NCP and NPP.

Though the campaigning for the elections is yet to reach its peak, many candidates have started door-to-door publicity.

Meanwhile, the UDP on Tuesday said that the party will send its candidates in batches for filing nominations while many individual candidates would also select a day preferable for them to file their nominations.
