Manipur start T Ao with 4-0 victory

SHILLONG: Defending champions Manipur easily dealt with the challenge of Assam, winning 4-0 in the first Group B match at the Dr T Ao Memorial Football Tournament in Aizawl on Thursday.
Assam went into the half time break holding their own, but Manipur stepped up a gear to score all four of their goals in the second session.
Kh Naoton Singh (54th and 74th minutes), N Sushil Meitei (72nd) and Md Imran Khan (89th) were the goal-scorers.
Sikkim are the other team in Group B.
On Friday, Meghalaya, who won their first fixture, will take on Tripura at 1:00pm, while hosts Mizoram, who were also successful in their first outing, will take on Nagaland in the later game.
