Mysterious death of woman in Tura: Mother files fresh FIR

SHILLONG: After the rejection of an FIR filed by the mother of a victim, who was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in Tura West Garo Hills, the relatives had to file another FIR in Mawlai police station.
As per the fresh FIR lodged on Wednesday by one Mary Kurbah,her grandson Sikandar Kurbah had informed her from Tura that  his mother Susan Kurbah died on January 30  after she was beaten up by his father Mithlesh Thakur of Sepoy Colony, Akhongre, Tura. “Sikandar  had also told us that Mithlesh had threatened to kill him if he revealed  this to his grandmother”, the FIR said.
According to reports, after the FIR was filed in Tura on February 1, police had told the relatives that the FIR was just a complaint. This has compelled the relatives to file a fresh FIR in Mawlai police station.
With foul play lingering on the death of her daughter, the mother has demanded arrest of the accused and an impartial probe as the body of her daughter had bruises and moreover, her legs were found to be tied together.
