Pine Mount irregularities

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has taken a strong exception to the alleged case of nepotism in Pine Mount School.
Reacting to news reports that children of senior officials of the education department were appointed as assistant mistresses in Pine Mount School Dr Sangma on Monday said, “If their children had applied for the vacant posts the officials should not have been a part of the interview process.”
Sources revealed on Sunday that two assistant mistresses (teachers), who were recently appointed in Pine Mount School, are the daughters of Director of Higher and Technical Education, CCM Mihsil and a Joint Director of the same department.
The father-mother duo oversaw an interview panel and allegedly ensured permanent jobs to their offspring.
Expressing surprise over the development, the Chief Minister said that he would ask the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Education Prof RC Laloo to verify the matter.
“If the media reports are found to be true then the government shall decide on the future course of action,” the Chief Minister said.
About 77 candidates appeared for the interview which was held form January 8-10, 2014.
