SHILLONG: The Hynnie-wtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) has given a week’s deadline to the State Government to withdraw the MPDA imposed on its West Khasi Hills unit president Arphul Kharbani failing which the pressure group would launch agitations which might disrupt the upcoming district council election.

Informing this on Tuesday HANM working President Nelson Kharbani said that West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner S Kharlyngdoh had assured that the MPDA imposed on Kharbani would be withdrawn immediately.

“We were also assured by Chief Adviser to the government, DD Lapang that Kharbani would be freed immediately,” he claimed. Kharbani was arrested for his alleged involvement in setting ablaze the office building of the PWD Executive Engineer and District and Commerce Industries Centre, Nongstoin on September 23.

He was later booked under the MPDA.
