Infant raped, murdered

TURA: A seven-year-old child was allegedly found raped and strangulated at her home in Bollonggre village of Raksamgre in West Garo Hills on Tuesday afternoon.
The heinous crime took place when the child returned ahead of her mother from a visit to a family friend’s house a distance away.
The child had left home with her mother during the morning hours to visit a family in the village for some work. After having their meal at the house of a family friend they both proceeded home when the mother suddenly realized that she had left behind her cell phone for charge at the friend’s house.
While the mother went back to the house she visited to collect her phone that had been left to charge the daughter proceeded on alone towards her home on a bicycle.
When the mother arrived at home some time later she found the lifeless body of her little daughter with bruise marks on her neck.
The body was taken to Tura civil hospital for post-mortem and according to the family members the medical report had indicated rape and murder by strangulation.
The local MLA of Raksamgre, Limison D Sangma, who visited the bereaved family at the village on Wednesday, called upon the authorities to take all possible steps to arrest the culprit.
