TURA: The newly-floated Garo militant outfit the A·chik Tiger Force (ATF) has demanded equal tax as its counterpart the GNLA from the Traders of Williamnagar in East Garo Hills.

Informing about its demand over phone to the Shillong Times the militant outfit’s Area Commander of East Garo Hills, Mikkim Arengh said that the GNLA had been receiving huge amounts of money as taxes from the traders of Williamnagar adding that it too deserved the same treatment from the traders. The militant leader also put the sole blame on the GNLA for the execution of two of its cadres at Napak A·pal of the same district but did not make any retaliatory comments against its rival outfit.

Earlier, the outfit had released information to the media about its intention to enter into Songsak region as a way of communicating to the people about its intended presence.

While it did not ascertain whether it had made entry into the region indications are that it has already established itself and is getting ready to carry out extortion activities in the region.
