SHILLONG: The U-14 Football Tournament will start from Saturday at 10:00am at Ground No. 2, it was announced by the Shillong Sports Association on Thursday.
Royal Wahingdoh will play Lummawbah SC in the inaugural match of the tournament. A further four matches will be held on the same day.
Due to the new school session, two matches will be held on weekdays at 4:00pm ag Ground No. 2 and No. 3, while five matches will be held on Saturdays.
The tournament will conclude in mid-March.
The tournament is especially significant as it act as part of a launchpad for the young footballers of the state, with the aim being to identify talent and groom the promising players for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which India will host in 2017.
