SHILLONG: The intermittent rain since Saturday has kept the people of the State indoors with the mercury dipping further. The rain has also taken a toll on the campaigning for the February 24 district council polls.

In addition to cancelling public meetings, many candidates could not go out for door-to-door campaigns for the last two days due to the adverse weather conditions.

According to reports from Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, Saturday’s cyclonic circulation over Assam, Meghalaya and the surrounding areas now lies over Nagaland and the neighbourhood. Night temperature changed a little over the region during last 24 hours.

Rain or thundershowers would continue in most places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, the data said.
