TURA: Breaking his silence on the recent formation of a new militant outfit headed by one of his senior colleagues who parted ways, GNLA commander-in-chief Sohan D Shira has said that it is being nurtured by a former cadre who is working simultaneously for the police and the new group called A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK).

“We have reliable source that the floating of new outfit ASAK was masterminded by surrendered GNLA Mingran T Sangma,” revealed Sohan. Mingran was previously the chief training instructor of GNLA, but had deserted the group with over a dozen cadres and substantial number of weapons.

He became a prime target of the GNLA but narrowly escaped its wrath when police arrested a woman who had befriended him and tried to lure him away to the GNLA. “He has been providing intelligence output as he is working for the police department and is involved in supplying and transportation of arms to ASAK,” claimed Sohan.

Both ASAK chief Reding T Sangma and Mingran T Sangma were senior members lodged in the same camp of the GNLA.

On Reding, the GNLA chief clarified that he had not been demoted but rather promoted to the rank of public grievances secretary.

“He failed to exercise his own power and function as given in the GNLA constitution. He could not be allotted double portfolio as he was undergoing treatment,” added Sohan.
