246 LP teachers set to lose jobs

SHILLONG: As many as 246 ‘scam tainted’ teachers are set to lose their jobs after the State Law Department gave its go ahead to their termination following the recommendations of the High Level Scrutiny Committee which detected anomalies in the appointment of LP teachers in the State in 2010.
Following the clearance from the Law department, the Directorate of School Education and Literacy will issue a notice to the tainted teachers after the District Council elections.
While 53 teachers will lose their jobs in Shillong, as many as 92 teachers will become ‘jobless’ in Jowai. 37 teachers are set be terminated in Amlarem, 21 in Tura and 43 in Dadenggre.
Mentionably, the State Education department had, earlier, issued notices to the tainted teachers following which the teachers had sent their replies to the department.
The affected teachers have already threatened to take to the streets if the Government decides to terminate their services.
