GUWAHATI: Chances of the BJP having an alliance with the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in Assam for contesting the Lok Sabha polls have been dashed with the saffron party on Friday deciding to have no alliance with any party and to contest all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam on its own.
The general secretary of Assam state BJP unit, Santanu Bharali informed that the executive committee of the state unit of the BJP on Friday took a decision to have no truck with any political party and contest all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam on its own.
He informed that the central BJP had earlier left it to the State BJP leadership in Assam to take final decision on polls alliance, if any, for Lok Sabha polls.

Modi arrives on Saturday

Meanwhile, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is arriving in Northeast on Saturday to address three mass rallies at Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh), Silchar (Assam) and Agartala in Tripura.
Heavy security arrangements have been done for Modi’s rallies especially in Silchar which is located lose to India-Bangladesh border.
He will address the first rally at Pashighat, then at Silchar and finally at Agartala before leaving the region in the afternoon.
The respective state BJP units in all the three states are expecting heavy turnout in all the rallies especially in Silchar given that the party has a strong base in South Assam. The sitting MP from Silchar is from the BJP.
In Pasighat, a small township and a district headquarter in Arunachal Pradesh a massive inflow of people from all parts of Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessed from Friday.
Modi is scheduled to come to Assam again on March 13 to address three rallies in Lakhimpur, Mangaldoi and Nagaon.
