SHILLONG: TNT Sputnik defeated Malki CC by 48 runs to reach the final of the Super Division Cricket League, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Tuesday.

Anzar Ali provided a superb all-round effort with bat and ball to help Sputnik take down a Malki unit that is usually a strong team, but which was missing out on a couple of key players.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, TNT Sputnik scored 200/8 in 40 overs (exactly five runs an over), with Anzar scoring an unbeaten 79 runs from 74 balls.

Proline took 2/36 in eight overs for Malki.

In reply, Anzar was also effective with the ball, claiming three wickets for 18 runs in eight overs, helping his team bowl out Malki well short of the target in 38.5 overs.

Sylvester Mylliempdah top-scored with 28 runs.

In the second semifinal on Wednesday, United XI will go up against New Friends Union at 8:30am to decide the second and last spot for the title clash.
