SHILLONG: The UDP which is expecting to get around 10 to 15 seats in KHADC and 10 in JHADC has ruled out any alliance with the Congress even as it indicated the desire to work with regional parties.

The UDP had fielded candidates for all the 29 seats in the KHADC whereas for JHADC, the party had fielded 16 candidates.

UDP President Donkupar Roy told reporters on Tuesday that the party favours a post poll alliance with other regional parties.

According to Roy, even if the UDP gets absolute majority, it will go for a post poll alliance with the regional parties, KHNAM and HSPDP.

Reacting to a query the UDP president Roy said that it was out of compulsion that the UDP had supported the Congress Government in the past.

The UDP leader also said that the party has an understanding with the Independents in Jaintia Hills to form the next Executive Council.

There are as many as 36 Independent candidates contesting several seats in JHADC.
