SHILLONG: A top GNLA cadre Lethri T Sangma alias Harara was arrested by Mendipathar Police from Salpara, East Garo Hills on Tuesday night.
The accused did not have any arms during the time of the arrest although it is known that he has been involved in many criminal activities perpetrated by GNLA self styled commander in chief Sohan Shira and his cadres . He belongs to the third batch of the GNLA outfit.
The arrested cadre Harara is the deputy area commander working under one Philiport of GNLA.
Earlier, Philiport had summoned Harara to his camp, allegedly at the behest of Sohan D Shira, to eliminate him.
According to police, Harara had come to the camp for urgent work. Philiport took away the weapon issued to Harara and was about to fire at him but Harara suddenly jumped into a ditch and escaped the bullets miraculously.
The night police patrol party arrested him and identified him as the most wanted GNLA deputy commander.
GNLA leader Sohan D Shira is on a killing spree of his own cadres. Incidentally, Harara is a distant cousin of Reding T Sangma the self styled commander of ASAK.
