SHILLONG: Rapborlang Jana scored five goals as Marbisu handed Lumshyiap a 6-0 defeat in the U-14 Football Tournament, organised by the Shillong Sports Association, at Ground No. 2, Polo, on Wednesday.
Rapborlang put the ball into the net in the ninth, 11th, 34th, 46th and 59th minutes, while team mate Junesing Lyngdoh scored in the 18th.
In the other match, Nongumlong drew 0-0 with Laitkor on Ground No. 3. Both teams fought it out over the course of 60 minutes but could not score, with Laitkor having to rebuff Nongumlong several times.
Nongumlong were a tad unlucky when one of their shots on target hit the crossbar in the second half, while the Laitkor goalkeeper pulled off a stunning save by diving full to his left to deny Nongumlong on a later occasion.
The next matches in the tournament will be held on Friday and will see Rangdajied United play Lawmali Pyllun, while Shillong Lajong take on Mawklot. Both games will kick off at 4:00 pm at Polo Grounds.
