Kohima: Four cells of the Naga Peoples front (NPF), Legal Cell, Life Membership Cell, Farmers’ Wing and Minority Cell have appealed the Government of India and the negotiating parties to bring about early political solution to the Naga issue at the soonest possible.
In a joint resolution adopted by the NPF central office bearers, frontals, cells and division presidents yesterday, Cell Conveners of Legal Cell, Life Membership, Farmers’ Wing and Minority said NPF appreciated and welcomed the Forum for Naga Reconciliation for efforts to bring Naga political groups into one common platform for permanent peace.
The party has also urged all sections of people to support FNR initiatives. The Cells also appealed the Government of Nagaland to actively take up issues of Nagas in Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The NPF resolution also asked the state Government to take the issues of Nagas in Myanmar with both the Governments of India and Myanmar in the field of development, education, health, transport and communication besides providing opportunities.
While expressing its support to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, DAN consensus candidate for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, the NPF cells appealed party members to work wholeheartedly for Rio’s success.
The cells also lauded Rio for being the first chief minister of Nagaland to have visited Myanmar for taking up Naga issues in that country and for building cordial relationship between India and Myanmar.
NPF cells congratulated the state Government for the successful hosting of the maiden visit of Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The Cells assured that NPF stood for weaker and minority section of the community and to guarantee equal opportunity to all citizens in the state.
Meanwhile, NPF youth wing has congratulated Rio for winning the support of DAN partners on his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls. The youth wing has acknowledged the unanimous decision of DAN partners, JD-U, BJP, Independents and others for the decision to support Rio.
In a press release, NPF youth wing member secretary, media cell NPF youth wing Janbemo Humtsoe also expressed confidence the party would retain the lone Lok Sabha seat from the state for the third consecutive term.
NPF youth wing also thanked all ranks and files for the support it received in fielding NPF youth president Kakuto Shohe for the Lok Sabha election even though the ‘unaccomplished’. (UNI)
