Three drugs peddlers nabbed in Jowai

JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills Police on Saturday evening nabbed three persons for allegedly trafficking drugs. The trio was identified as Narwil Nangbah (39) of Loom-Pariat, Ladthadlaboh, Jowai, Moonevershine Tang (35) of Thadmuthlong and Starling Pathlong (27) of Khimusniang Jowai.

Police seized 15 grams heroine and Rs. 1, 11, 000 from their possession. The drugs were packed in six Golden Khaini containers.

Based on specific information, West Jaintia hills nabbed all the three while they were coming from Shillong in a vehicle (Maruti Alto) ML-04B-4381 which belongs to Narwill Nangbah. They were arrested from near Myntdu Bridge just before reaching Jowai. Police seized the vehicle, drugs and cash on the spot.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, P Syiem, Jowai Police, received specific information about the movement of drugs sellers, the Officer in charge, DH Pde along with a team of police laid a trap to nab them.

At around 6:30 pm, based on information, they spotted the vehicle near Myntdu Bridge while on its way to Jowai from Shillong.

They stopped the vehicle and on being searched, six Golden Khaini containers containing heroine drugs were recovered from their possession. All six containers were recovered from inside the dashboard of the vehicles while a cash of Rs. 1.11 lakh was recovered from Narwill’s possession.

Police suspected that few grams of the drug were sold on the way while coming to Jowai as the containers were found to be half full. According to Narwill, he informed that the cost of one container is Rs. 5000.

The main accused, Narwill Nangbah was arrested several times in the past for selling drugs to youths in Jaintia Hills.
